29º MixBrasil Festival

    Culture of Diversity. Present!

    CINEMA

After nearly two years of being forced to watch movies on our computers or TVs, we're back in movie theaters - and keeping it online as well. A hybrid film festival. Celebrating this return, the programming comes more diverse than ever. Among our 117 films from 28 countries, refined cinematographies, pulsating stories and vigorous interpretations stand out in these internationally acclaimed films, in many festivals around the world.

    THEATRE

We took a step forward in the promotion process of cultural production when we started last year to select and present never seen before theatrical performances. This year, through a notice made in partnership with the Cultural Center of Diversity and the Municipal Department of Culture in São Paulo, five projects were selected (among 61 enrolled) for artistic residence in September and October. Current and urgent issues for the LGBTQIA+ community were developed in different languages and formats, with some in-person premieres happening during the 29th Mix Brasil Festival at Teatro Paulo Eiró, and being screened later at #CulturaEmCasa digital platform. Jury and audience choose their favorites and these will be awarded with Coelhos de Ouro and Coelhos de Prata (Golden and Silver Rabbits awards).

    MUSIC

O Mix Music, o braço musical do Festival MixBrasil, apresenta nesta edição shows vicerais com artistas importantes da cena LGBTQIA+

    LITERATURE

If 2021 remains as a year of great losses in so many sectors of individual and collective life, the same cannot be said about queer Brazilian literary production.

    MIX LAB

MixLab Spcine is a meeting between professionals involved in filmmaking, production, programming, distribution and many other areas of the audiovisual market, aiming to promote the exchange of experiences and professional relationships through presentations, lectures, workshops and debates.

    MIX TALKS

Mix Talks is the right place for urgent and insurgent discussions which has been, year after year, getting stronger with the connection of the multiplicity of narratives that makes up our time. From adult entertainment at digital platforms to LGBTQIA+ mental health, from lesbian visibility to indigenous plurality acknowledgment, not to mention the impacts caused by moral censorship in life and arts we've been going through, this edition also looks upon the future of relationships as well as the eleboration of humanities and the structures of a new world.

    MIX ICON

In the year Ney Matogrosso's turning 80, we celebrate his artistic persona still shining on stages in Brazil and abroad. And it's on this chamelionic and critical artist we've prepared a film exhibition with his best cinema performances and choose him the Mix Brasil 2021 Icon.
